This study investigates the use of Russian folktales in Russian as a foreign language classes and analyzes their educational and cultural functions. Watching films or adaptations of Russian folktales not only enriches the language learning experience but also allows learners to practice acquired vocabulary and grammatical structures, develop listening and text production skills, as well as familiarize themselves with Russian culture. This study also proposes teaching methods for utilizing film adaptations of folktales such as Masha and the Bear, The Magic Swan Geese, Sister Alyonushka and Brother Ivanushka, and The Frog Princess. Each tale is accompanied by a set of exercises designed to address vocabulary, grammar, and cultural knowledge while encouraging learners to reflect on their educational values and role in folklore traditions.
