Abstract

Reading comprehension has always been considered one of the most important skills in teaching and learning English in Vietnam in recent years. However, EFL students tend to feel bored and lack learning motivation in reading lessons. Thus, improving the quality of teaching reading comprehension in tertiary education has become an increasingly considerable matter of concern. This paper identifies some of the students’ difficulties in English reading comprehension and suggests some cooperative activities in teaching reading comprehension. It is hoped that this paper would make a positive contribution to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning reading as well as to increasing students’ learning motivation and reading engagement.
