THE DISCUSSION ON PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT FOR JAPANESE AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN NON-LANGUAGE MAJORED TERTIARY EDUCATION AND TRAINING INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

In the frame of National Foreign Languages Project 2020, Hanoi University is authorized by MOET to develope Japanese language program for in non-language majored tertiary education and training institutions aiming at level 3 in 6-level language competency framewwork. This article denotes a certain viewpoints on the development of Japanese language program: (1) conceptualizing the term ‘general Japanese’, ‘Japanese as a major’ and ‘Japanese for specific purposes’; (2) timing for introduction of foreign languages for specific purposes; (3) main principles in the development of Japanese language program in relations with CEFR and other standards for Japanese language learning; (4) the main contents of syllabus designed in accordance with the latest requirement by MOET; (5) notes in implementation of Japanese language program.
