This article presents the development of the “Basic-level French–Vietnamese Interpretation” coursebook and its pilot implementation with 46 third-year enrolled in the “Basic Interpreting” course within the Bachelor's program in French Studies at Hanoi University. This coursebook was developed following the stages of developmental research applied to educational materials. Its content was designed in alignment with the official syllabus approved by the university. The teaching and assessment methods of the course’s learning outcomes were grounded in foundational theories in translation–interpretating pedagogy and cognitive psychology. Student satisfaction with the trial use of the coursebook was evaluated through a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The findings were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively to inform improvements to the coursebook prior to its official adoption.
