Reading texts, consolidating, and expanding knowledge is mandatory in developing reading comprehension skills in the General Education Curriculum 2018, particularly Grade 10 Literature Subject. Integrating these elements into the curriculum not only enhances students' knowledge, skills, and critical thinking but also fosters their character-building and personal development. This study proposes a method for organizing reading, consolidation, and expansion activities by implementing the Book Club Model with ten Reading journal exercises in teaching the lyrical and nostalgic short story “A Joke” by Anton Chekhov. The proposal aims to cultivate students’ interest in reading and reinforce their appreciation for literature.
