Abstract

Flexible use of word class is popular in Ancient Chinese especially in the use of contentive words. It aims to expand the vocabulary, differentiate the meanings and diversify the use of collocations. This paper presents types of conversion of nouns, adjectives, numerals into verbs. It also points out conditions and methods to recognize this phenomenon in Ancient Chinese.
