MAPPING CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR IN ECONOMIC TEXTS WITH ENGLISH EVIDENCE

Abstract

The study analyzes how the use of metaphor in some economic newspapers helps raise readers’ awareness. In this article, the abstract concept “economy” is mapped in another domain to have a new and deeper insight into it. Financial and economic sections of 15 recent English economic articles were used for document analysis. The study shows that the metaphor THE ECONMY IS A LIVING ORGANISM accounts for the highest proportion of linguistic metaphors used in the analyzed documents.
