One of the important components in translation curriculum for translation/interpretation majors is the theory of translation: theory of general translation and theory of translation between languages. To help translator-to-be, we introduce an overview of ‘models of translation theory’ on the basis of linguistics and the comparison between Vietnamese – a typical analytic and isolating language – and Russian – a typical flexional and synthetic language.
