Chinese Abbreviations (缩略语), referred to as “TNRG” in Vietnamese, are mainly formed by shortening the components of original combinations in order to create lexical units as words and phrases. This article not only introduces shortening methods and structural style of TNRG but also studies characteristics of the part of speech of TNRG from the perspective of forming methods and structural styles based on Yuan Hui, Ruan Xianzhong’s book called “The Dictionary of Abbreviations in modern Chinese” with 7,856 lexical items.
