THE ROLE OF LITERARY TRANSLATION IN CULTURAL MEDIATION

Abstract

In the era of globalization, culture plays a preponderant role in mutual understanding between peoples. Linguistic barriers are no longer the main obstacle to communication and the transmission of cultural knowledge is increasingly reinforced throughout the world thanks to translation, in particular that of literary works which convey typical ideological values of each nation. This paper aims to answer the question: What role does literary translation play in the current cultural and linguistic context? In this paper, we commented on the literary text as a bearer of cultural factors, on the contribution of literary translation to the enrichment of languages, to the promotion of diversity and to the mutual understanding of cultures.
