Abstract

The paper discussed the semantic components of similized idioms in English and Vietnamese. The findings of the study pointed out the similarities and differences between English and Vietnamese similized idioms in terms of (1) motivation degrees, and (2) semantic framework of the components. Componential analysis, descriptive analysis, comparison and contrast were main methods used in the present study.
