A STUDY ON LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ENGLISH AND VIETNAMESE ANIMAL-RELATED IDIOMS

Abstract

Idioms are special products of a language, used popularly in daily communication. However, due to cultural differences, learners of foreign languages, encounter many difficulties in understanding and using idioms in general and animal-related idioms in particular. The article discusses the similarities and differences between English and Vietnamese animal-related idioms in order to help Vietnamese learners of English language avoid language interference errors.
